Homemade chocolate granola

This chocolate granola is oh so easy to make using only 4 ingredients!  I have this thing for jumbo oats, but normal size ones are just as great.  The cocoa I use is Green and Blacks, which is virtually sugar-free, but once combined with this recipe creates a satisfying chocolate experience!  With the addition of fresh orange chunks, it will satisfy those cravings for that famous brand of chocolate orange we have all grown to love! The chocolate granola goes equally well with banana or nectarines.  Serve with yoghurt or simply with milk on it’s own.

INGREDIENTS (serves 8 to 10)

  • 5 tbsp cold pressed rapeseed oil
  • 5 tbsp honey
  • 1 heaped tbsp quality cocoa
  • 300g oats

METHOD

Preheat your oven to 180°C.  Add the rapeseed oil and honey to a pan and gently heat (you do not need much heat for the oil and honey).  Add in the cocoa and stir.  Next, mix in the oats, folding well to make sure the oats are fully coated with the oil and honey mixture.  Spread the mixture onto an oven dish or tray (one large enough so the mixture is about 1cm deep, or you can spread it over two trays).  Bake for 15 minutes.  Remove it from the oven carefully, place on a heat proof surface and leave to cool.  Here I’ve served my granola with natural yoghurt on the side and topped with fresh orange, pumpkin seeds and a sprinkle of ground flaxseed.
